How to create a gallery wall with the Samsung Frame TV

We recently moved into a new house with an open concept living space. While there are many benefits to an open concept house, creating a flow between each space can be challenging.

For us, the first order of business was camouflaging the tv that sat in the absolute center of the room. Cue the Frame TV by Samsung. Unlike your typical tv, this tv sits flush against the wall like a painting would. I can’t tell you how many people have walked passed it not realizing it was actually a television. As soon as we bought it, I knew I wanted to create a gallery wall to highlight what it was made for. Let me walk you through my process and some tips for creating your very own gallery wall.

Step one

Choose your artwork

First thing to do is round up your paintings and find things that work well together. I chose a mixture of my own paintings as well as a few other pieces we have collected over the years. While I decided to only use paintings for now, adding mirrors, plates or other wall decor can add some nice texture and visual interest.

Step two:

Create templates

I recommend creating templates of each painting using cardboard. I’ve tried using large paper to create the templates in the past, but found that it was constantly folding over and wouldn’t sit flat. This time I taped pieces of cardboard together to make the exact sizes I needed.

Using blue painter’s tape, I placed the templates on the wall. The nice thing about the painter’s tape is that you can move things around until you’re happy with the configuration. Be sure to keep in mind any items that will sit on the table below and work that into your overall layout. For example, I knew that I would want a tall plant on the bottom right, so I kept the right side of the gallery wall a bit higher.

Step three:

Hang your artwork

Once you’re happy with everything, it’s time to start hanging things up. I like to measure where the hook is on each painting and marking it on the cardboard for reference.

Step four:

Add the finishing touches

The wall itself is only part of the entire look. As mentioned before, the items you put around the wall will also help you further define the space.
