My First Market for Makers

After a long hiatus, Markets for Makers returned to Miami at its new outdoor venue,: Miami Design District’s Jungle Plaza. Like other 90+ makers that had been patiently waiting for this for over a year, I jumped at the chance to participate at an event supporting small businesses.

Being my first market or craft fair of any kind, my mind was racing with how to setup my tent for the art fair and what items to bring. Since I absolutely love branding, this was my jam.

After a lot of Pinterest searching, I decided pegboard displays would work well for my art. Thankfully, I have a talented uncle that helped me out with this part. Below are some photos of the final product to give you a few ideas when creating your own art fair booth.

I loved being able to brand all the details. From the pocket notebooks and wrapping paper labels, to the anti-bacterial bottles.

The nice thing about a 2-day craft or art fair is that you can make adjustments from one day to the next. I noticed that some people were a bit shy about coming into the tent, so I switched up the setup the following day so most things were front and center. I definitely saw more people approach the tent and stay longer with that quick switch.
